CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

CPC General Director and Stavropol Krai Governor Discussed a New Pump Station Commissioning

On August 24, 2016, Vladimir Vladimirov, The Stavropol Krai Governor, chaired the Working Group meeting at PS-5 in Izobilnensky District of Stavropol Krai. The meeting addressed the commissioning of the PS-5 being built as a part of the CPC Expansion Project as well as the status of the social projects supported by the Consortium.

The meeting attendees included Nikolay Gorban, CPC General Director, Mikhail Grishankov, Deputy General Director, RF Government Relations, CPC top managers, Roman Petrashov, Deputy Stavropol Krai Governor, Vitaly Khotsenko, Minister of Energy, Industry and Communications of Stavropol Krai, Heads of the Districts in which CPC sites were located, regional and federal supervising agencies.


Nikolay Gorban said that the PS construction is 90% complete. The station is scheduled for commissioning in February – March 2017. CPC CEO thanked the Stavropol Krai Government for the support.

The equipment installation is nearing completion at the site including but not limited to the main pumps with the capacity of 3,200 m3 of crude oil per hour. There will be 25 persons working in shifts at the site plus several dozens of the support staff.

Vladimir Vladimirov, The Stavropol Krai Governor, emphasized that CPC had been a reliable economic and social partner of the Krai for many years. CPC had been providing financial support to the Krai’s public health sector, purchasing school buses and providing assistance in other matters.

“I hope that CPC will continue being actively involved into the social life of our Krai – said the Governor. – We are interested in having this PS up and running as soon as practical to bring tax proceeds into the Krai budget. It is also envisaged that the PS will be staffed by the local residents”.

“It has always been our priority to hire locals – pointed out Nikolay Gorban – and this site is not going to be any different. Social aspects of our business have always been of our concern. Besides, please rest assured that CPC will endeavor to keep the new pump station environmentally and operationally safe. We intend to make our cooperation long and fruitful.

There are currently four social projects underway in Stavropol Krai in which CPC has a hand: construction of the new children department and procurement of the medical equipment for Izobilnensky District Hospital, as well as procurement of the medical equipment for two other medical institutions - Ipatovsky District Hospital and the Central Hospital in Stavropol.

CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy industry with participation of foreign capital on the CIS territory. The length of the pipeline connecting the oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with single point moorings which allow for safe tanker lifting at a considerable distance from the shore, also when the weather conditions are unfavorable.

The Expansion Project includes rehabilitation of 5 existing and construction of 10 additional pump stations (2 in the Republic of Kazakhstan and 8 in the Russian Federation), six new storage tanks (100,000 cu.m each) in addition to the existing four near Novorossiysk and a third SPM at the CPC Marine Terminal, and also the replacement of an 88 km pipeline section in Kazakhstan with a larger diameter pipe. The total amount of the Project investments will be US$ 5.4 billion.
