CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

CPC Top Managers Visited PS-7 in Krasnodar Krai

On 31 January 2019, CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban, First Deputy General Director, Operations, Kenneth Yoss and General Manager, Field Operations, Vladimir Shmakov visited PS-7 located nearby the village of Staromyshastovskaya in Krasnodar Krai.
Accompanied by Western Region specialists the CPC General Director inspected main and auxiliary equipment as well as administrative premises.
The CTP management carried out an unscheduled check of the readiness of personnel and contractors for the elimination of emergency situations. The Consortium's General Director Nikolai Gorban gave a task - the “ignition” at the site of the pressure wave smoothing system. Representatives of the Kuban fire brigade, as well as participants of the volunteer fire brigade from the station staff, deployed the necessary equipment and conducted a foam attack.
The purpose of PS-7 in the CPC pipeline system is to accept crude oil coming via the pipeline from Kropotkin PS and to pump it to PS-8 and further to the Marine Terminal Tank Farm. The pump station was constructed as part of the CPC Expansion Project and commissioned about 4 years ago.
The crude is pumped by four mainline pumps, which maximum capacity in the “three plus one” configuration is 12,000 m3 per hour. They are driven by asynchronous 8,300 kW motors. A 10V substation was constructed nearby to supply electric power to the pump station.
An available surge relief system assures robust safety at PS. It reliably protects from surge the pipeline as well as equipment of PS-7 and upstream Kropotkin PS.
To protect environment the pump station is equipped with its own highly efficient treatment facilities. They treat in full all industrial and household wastewater.
FYI:
CPC Pipeline System is one of the major investment projects in energy sector with participation of foreign capital in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz–Novorossiysk Pipeline is 1,511 km; it transports over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export crude, as well as crude from Russian oil fields, including the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
