CPC Head’s Business Trip to Central Region Facilities

On March 27, 2019, CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban made a business trip to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s Central Region operation facilities located in Astrakhan Oblast and the Republic of Kalmykia. Taking a helicopter flight, CPC Head visited the following Pump Stations: Komsomolskaya PS & PS-2.
Nikolai Gorban inspected the main operation and auxiliary facilities at the Pump Stations, held meetings with the specialists. The Consortium’s Head also conducted unscheduled inspections of operation personnel’s and Contractors’ readiness to emergency response under various scenarios. Fire Brigade representatives and voluntary fire brigades members successfully accomplished the tasks set as part of the drill.
PS-2 is the Consortium’s newest pump station located in the Republic of Kalmykia and put into permanent operation in April 2018.  That event completed the implementation of the Project to expand CPC pipeline system capacities up to 67 MMT of oil per year.
Komsomolsk PS, also located in the Republic of Kalmykia, was commissioned in 2003. Komsomolskaya PS equipment upgrade was completed in April 2014 as part of Phase 1 of the CPC Expansion Project.
In particular, custody transfer meters, a laboratory and a chemicals warehouse were built and put into service, new pump units, crude oil and firewater storage tanks, mud strainers and a surge relief system were installed. In October 2016, crude oil from the Filanovsky offshore field developed by LUKOIL on the Caspian Sea started coming into CPC pipeline system at Komsomolsk PS.
As a reminder: an almost 300 km long section of CPC crude pipeline crosses Astrakhan Oblast territory and an over 200 km long section crosses the Republic of Kalmykia.
