Isatay PS and Kurmangazy PS - new names for CPC pipeline stations

Two pump stations located in the Republic of Kazakhstan will be renamed on 01 October 2019. A-PS-3A was renamed to Isatay PS and A-PS-4 to Kurmangazy PS. From now on all four pump stations of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium Eastern Region bear the names of the nearest geographic features or human settlements – Tengiz PS, Atyrau PS, Isatay PS and Kurmangazy PS.

Tengiz PS, the head pump station, was built in 1989. It is located in the Atyrau region near the major Tengiz O&G deposit. Since then the station has been upgraded several times, with heavier, up-to-date equipment. 2015 saw installation of three new electrically driven mainline pumps, custody transfer meter, etc. at the pump station as part of the CPC Expansion Project.

At the Atyrau PS built in approximately the same period, 27 new facilities were put into operation under the Expansion Project, including two mainline pumps and four booster pumps, surge relief system, three custody transfer meters, two RVSPK-20000 tanks, indoor switchgear.

A-PS-4 (now Kurmangazy PS) was built in Kazakhstan in 2016. Timely commissioning of this facility made it possible to accept crude oil from the Kashagan deposit. Construction of A-PS-3A (now Isatay PS) was completed in October 2017. External power supply to both pump stations is provided using the pattern unique for the Kazakhstan oil transportation enterprises - via two new purpose-built 220 kV overhead power lines, 224.5 km long each, and two 220/10 kV substations.

For reference.

The CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects with foreign capital in the energy sector in the CIS. The length of Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km; more than two thirds of all export crude oil from Kazakhstan and crude oil from the Russian fields, including those in the Caspian Region, are transported by this route. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also in poor weather conditions.
