LUKOIL’s fifteenth Million Ton of the Caspian Off-Shore Crude Oil delivered via the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline

On March 5, 2020, the 15-millionth ton of crude oil delivered to Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system by LUKOIL was lifted from CPC Marine Terminal. The “milestone” ton was loaded on the MARS SUN tanker.
For reference: crude oil from the offshore Filanovsky Field which is being developed by LUKOIL on the Caspian sea started entering CC pipeline system on October 1, 2016. To transport its hydrocarbons from the offshore the oil company built a system of subsea and overland pipelines. Oil is delivered by the subsea pipeline to the head onshore facilities tank farm and is then injected into the CPC system to be further transported for export.
Komsomolskaya PS equipment upgrade was completed in April 2014 as part of the CPC Expansion Project. In particular, custody transfer meters were built, a laboratory and a chemicals warehouse were put into service, new pump units, crude oil and firewater storage tanks, mud strainers and a surge relief system were installed.
It is worth noting that in addition to Komsomolskaya PS operated in the Republic of Kalmykia, the Russian oil enters Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system also at Kropotkin PS located in Krasnodar Krai.
FYI:
CPC Pipeline System is one of the major investment projects in energy sector with participation of foreign capital in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz–Novorossiysk Pipeline is 1,511 km; it transports over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export crude, as well as crude from Russian oil fields, including the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
