CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

20-millionth ton of crude oil received from LUKOIL by CPC pipeline

20210219.jpgOn 28 January 2021 года, the Komsomolsk pump station received the 20-millionth ton of crude oil supplied by LUKOIL into the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system.

Deliveries of crude oil from the Filanovsky field (located on the Caspian Sea shelf 190 km off Astrakhan) into the CPC pipeline system started on 1 October 2016. A system of subsea and land pipelines was built to pump hydrocarbons from sea production platforms by the oil company. Crude oil is delivered via a subsea pipeline into a tank farm at head shore facilities and then delivered into the CPC system for further transportation for export.

In April 2014, an equipment upgrade was completed at the Komsomolsk pump station under the CPC pipeline system expansion project. In particular, the station had new meters built, a lab building and a chemicals storage facility commissioned, new pump units installed, oil tanks, fire water tanks, mud filters, a surge relief system.

It should be noted that in addition to the Komsomolsk pump station operating in the Republic of Kalmykia, Russian crude oil is also injected into the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system at the Kropotkin pump station located in the Krasnodar Region.

For reference:

The CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects with foreign capital in the energy sector in the CIS. The length of Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km; more than two thirds of all export crude oil from Kazakhstan and crude oil from the Russian fields, including those in the Caspian Region, are transported by this route. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also in poor weather conditions.
