Results of Water and Air Tests in the Marine Terminal Water Area and Adjacent Areas

20210824-1.jpgEnvironmental Lab “SFERA” reported the results of seawater samples taken on 19 August in the water area of CPC Marine Terminal (MT) in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka and in the adjacent areas. Measurements were taken from a boat from water surrounding SPM 1 at a depth of 50 cm. Near the shore on the beaches on Yuzhnaya Ozereevka settlement and Durso village (Energetic holiday camp), near the lighthouse and dolphin aquarium in Bolshoy Utrish village samples were taken from the depth of 30 cm.

According to the laboratory analysis results, the content of oil products and in water at each sampling point does not exceed 0,02 mg/dm3. This is 2.5 times less than the permissible MAC for oil products in the water bodies of fishery importance (0,05 mg/dm3).

At the same time, KubanECOProject laboratory reported the air measurement results at CPC MT and in the adjacent coastal areas from Yuzhnaya Ozereevka to Bolshoy Utrish. Samples were taken from 10 locations: boundary of the MT sanitary protection zone, beaches, holiday camps and in residential development area in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka, Abrau and Bolshoy Utrish.

20210824-2.jpgAccording to the measurements results on 22 August, a daily average of contents of C1Н4-C5Н12 group of hydrocarbons per cubic meter of air on the Beach in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka was 5.3 mg. This is 9.4 times lower than the average daily MAC (50 mg/m3) and 37.7 times lower than the maximum single MAC (200 mg/m3).

On the same day, a daily average of contents of C1Н4-C5Н12 group of hydrocarbons per cubic meter of air in Bolshoy Utrish was 2.15 mg. This is 23 times lower than the average daily MAC and 93 times lower than the maximum single MAC.

The laboratory analysis data suggest that the water in CPC Marine Terminal water area and adjacent areas remains steadily clean, there is a positive dynamics of reducing the quantity of impurities near SPM 1 - from 0.03 to 0.02 mg/dm3 in five days. The air also remains clean, there are positive changes in its composition in all measurement locations.

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
