CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

700 Million Tons of Oil Lifted From CPC Marine Terminal

On Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 19 hours. 45 min. at the CPC Marine terminal, the 700-millionth ton of oil has been handled since the start of operation of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline system. The jubilee ton was delivered to the tanks of Pinnacle Spirit tanker. This tanker was moored to the single point mooring No. 2 of the CPC Marine terminal at 12:00.
In 2020, CPC Marine Terminal became the leader among the Russian stevedoring companies. As a reminder: the Consortium shipped the 500-millionth ton for export on 12 August 2017, and the 600-millionth - in April 2019. CPC crossed all these heights in a reliable and accident-free manner, in full compliance with the Russian and international standards of labor protection, environmental and industrial safety.
The operation of Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system started in late 2001. By mid-2004, CPC reached the full throughput capacity of the first stage of development - 28.2 million tons. Since 2005, the Consortium has been gradually increasing the transportation volumes, which reached 32 million tons per year in 2010. From 2011 to 2017, CPC was implementing the Project to expand the pipeline system capacities, increasing the throughput capacity of the underground trunk pipeline up to 67 million tons of crude per year. In 2018, the volume of crude lifting from the Marine Terminal exceeded 61 million tons, in 2019, it amounted to almost 63.3 million tons of crude.
In 2019, CPC proceeded to implementation of a Debottlenecking Program (DBNP) which would allow to optimize and increase the volumes transported through Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline. A full scope of engineering for the DBNP has been completed by now, governmental permits for the facilities upgrade in Russia and Kazakhstan and the Shareholders’ approval have been received for the construction and installation. Thus, in 2023, the pipeline throughput capacity should amount to about 80 million tons of crude oil.
For reference:
The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km; this route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
