CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

4-points magnitude earthquake did not affect operation of CPC facilities in Novorossiysk

A 4-points magnitude earthquake occurred in the Black Sea at 6:05 pm last Saturday, 12 December 2020. The epicenter of the underwater earthquake shock was located out in the sea 30 km north-west of Anapa at a 10 km depth. According to the Krasnodar Krai emergencies ministry, there were no casualties and no building and structure damage. Residents felt soil tremors in various areas of the city.
The subsea earthquake did not affect the Caspian Pipeline Consortium Marine Terminal located 40 km away from the center of Novorossiysk in the village of Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka. All facilities, including the terminal’s Shore Facility, the Tank Farm, and three single point moorings (SPMs) located 5 km offshore continue operating normally. All these facilities were built with consideration for seismic activity and with a multifold safety margin. Crude oil loading is performed according to plan.
For reference:
The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km; this route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
