On 18 August 2021, Zhivaya Kuban network resource published an article called “Novorossiysk citizens noticed a large slick of fuel oil in Tsemesskaia Bay” containing misinformation about facts and events affecting CPC-R’s reputation.
The material from the Our Newspaper Novorossiysk media used as the basis of the article and the facts described in it had taken place and been made public exactly a year ago, on 18 August 2020, and have absolutely nothing to do with CPC-R.
On the same day, BezFormata network aggregator started spreading the article with the misinformation on the Internet.
On 18 August, CPC-R Press Service sent a complaint to the editor-in-chief of Zhivaya Kuban network resource demanding the article “Novorossiysk citizens noticed a large slick of fuel oil in Tsemesskaia Bay” be removed from the said mass media’s website. No response was received, the article was not removed, either.
On 19 August, the article with misinformation was published by Yugopolis, Moskovsky komsomolets na Kubani, Krasnodar city portal, Novorossiysk newswire. A number of publications did not contain a reference to the original source, but referred to Zhivaya Kuban resource with the publication date of 18 August 2021.
CPC Press Service recommends that the media that have published or reprinted the information on fuel oil spill in Tsemesskaia Bay published in the Our Newspaper Novorossiysk dated 18 August 2021 (i.e. a year old publication) and that have added data on “CPC’s involvement in the said incident” publish a denial and remove the false information from their resources. Also be advised that CPC-R reserves the right to take all measure stipulated by the Russian Federation law to protect the Company’s business reputation.
