Caspian Pipeline Consortium delegation visits Transneft-Far East

Transneft-Far East, a company operating Phase Two facilities of the East Siberia – Pacific Ocean Pipeline (ESPO-2) was visited by a delegation of CPC-R technical experts.

The delegation was comprised of CPC operations, control and communication specialists. Representatives of the largest international oil transport project were shown automatic process control systems, and, in particular, integrated control system (ICS) and its subsystems used in Transneft-Far East.

Also, CPC-R specialists were demonstrated process safety algorithms and discussed with Transneft-Far East employees current process control automation issues.

For reference:

Innovative technical and process solutions implemented in ESPO-2 ensure high reliability and safety of hydrocarbons transport. Thus, the ICS functions include oil transport parameters control: operating pressure, flow rate, temperature and viscosity. In the event of a failure, the system stop the pipeline automatically and closes the isolation valves.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the largest international energy projects in the CIS. The pipeline of 1,511 km runs from the oil field of West Kazakhstan to the Marine Terminal in Novorossiysk. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three single-point moorings (SPM) that ensure safe offshore loading of the tankers, including in the adverse weather conditions.
