In March,
2024, CPC has proceeded to preparation of its operation facilities to the
floods. The work will go on until late April this year.
As part of
the work, functionality of automatic fire suppression systems, industrial and
domestic sewage systems and treatment facilities is checked at all Consortium
Pump Stations in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais,
Republic of Kalmykia and Astrakhan Oblast. The storm water drainage systems of
the Tank Farms and PSs are inspected, the condition of lightning arresters and
grounding and drain tank automated systems are inspected.
CPC and
Contractors’ specialists carry out inspection and additional reinforcement of
individual sections of the crude pipeline, overhead power line towers and power
cables to prevent floodwater erosion.

Western Region within Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais, comprehensive inspection
is in progress to check 92 valves on the line pipe for full opening and closing
in manual and remote modes, including 31 valves on the water crossings. 260 valves on the process pipelines were
checked at the Pump Stations and in the Tank Farms. Additional preparation of
162 specialized vehicles for emergency response and recovery operations, 50
units of equipment for oil collection and re-injection is in progress,
availability of equipment, means, materials and sorbents for oil spill
containment in required quantities is ensured.
In CPC
Central Region, whose area of responsibility includes the facilities and the
crude pipeline segment in the Republic of Kalmykia and Astrakhan Oblast, 77
valves on the pipeline line pipe are being inspected, including five valves on
the water crossings. 280 valves on process pipelines with 300 mm to 1,000 mm
diameter have been inspected at the PSs and in Tanks Farms. Additionally, 88
specialized vehicles have been prepared for emergency response and recovery
operations and 96 units of equipment for oil collection and re-injection.
In CPC
Eastern Region, within the Republic of Kazakhstan, maintenance and leak testing
of 58 valves on the pipeline line pipe have been scheduled, including four
valves on the water crossings. The scope of inspection of process pipeline
valves at the PSs and in Tank Farms includes more than 350 valves. 116
specialized vehicles for emergency response and recovery operations and five
units of equipment of oil collection and re-injection will be prepared.
For timely
identification of threats to the crude pipeline facilities, CPC and
Contractors’ specialists regularly monitor the condition of underwater
crossings of the trunk crude pipeline, water crossings and floodplain areas.
Currently, the river levels in CPC host regions remain normal.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major
investment projects with foreign capital in energy sector in the CIS. The
length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports
over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil
fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped
with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a
significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
