Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Had a Meeting with CPC Head

On 16 April 2024, a meeting was held in Astana between Almasadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nikolay Gorban, General Director of Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
The Consortium's Head informed the Head of the Ministry of Energy of the crude pipeline company’s current activities of the oil pipeline company, including flood control measures at CPC facilities.
Three of four CPC facilities in Kazakhstan (Tengiz PS, Isatay PS and Kurmangazy PS) are currently out of danger of flooding. In view of the forecast increase in the water level of the Ural River near the city of Atyrau, CPC-K specialized equipment (reinforced by excavators and dump trucks that arrived on 15 April from Astrakhan Oblast) continues to build flood protection fortifications to protect the facilities of CPC, KazTransOil and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V.
The parties also discussed CPC contribution to protection of the city of Atyrau and its surroundings from floodwaters. CPC Management made a decision to perform flood control work for 250 mln tenge as part of the Company’s charity activity: construction and restoration of dams, repair of the existing earthen berm to protect the shoreline of the Ural River. The Company commenced this work on 4 April in coordination with Akimat Headquarters. The Consortium provided 8,600 sq.m of geotextile and 300,000 bags with sand to construct a dam near Bereke settlement. In addition, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan and CPC General Director addressed the issues of eliminating the consequences of the flood, in particular, the restoration of damaged roads of Republican importance, such as Astrakhan - Atyrau.
In the course of the meeting, Almasadam Satkaliyev and Nikolay Gorban also addressed the subject of CPC payment of 22.2 mln USD to KazMunayGas by 1 May 2024 as part of a contractual relationship.
As was noted in the course of the dialogue, Caspian Pipeline Consortium is exerting maximum efforts and resources to maintain Kazakhstan's oil export delivery schedule in the conditions of flooding in Atyrau Oblast, ensuring stable uninterrupted operation of the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline.
