CPC Releases 5751 Sturgeon Fry into the Kuban River

fish11.jpgOn 3 July 2025 in the town of Temryuk, Krasnodar Krai, Russian sturgeon fry was released into the natural habitat – the Azov Sea basin via the Kuban river with its tributaries. 5751 fingerlings weighing at least 2.5 g were raised at the Temryuk Sturgeon Plant against the CPC order. They were released into the Kuban river by the employees of the Azov-Black Sea Branch of the Federal State Budget Institution “General Basin Authority for Fishery and Preservation of Water Biological Resources” in the presence of a commission, comprising representatives of the Black Sea Territorial Authority of the Federal Fishery Agency, Azov-Black Sea Branch of FGBNU "VNIRO" ("AzNIIRKh") and CPC.
Along with the annual release of the sturgeon fry into the Volga delta, Astrakhan Region within the framework of the environmental and educational project “Protect Nature of Our Native Land ”, the Consortium on a regular and ongoing basis releases rare species of fish into the rivers of the Krasnodar Krai, where near Novorossiysk are located the most important facilities of the Company’s oil pipeline system – Marine Terminal with Tank Farm and three single point moorings (SPM), which transship crude oil into tankers at a distance of 5 km from the shore. The requirement in replenishment of certain species, as well as the place of fry release are determined on the basis of a scientific research. So, in 2023, fingerlings of the Red-Book Black-Sea salmon (kumzhi) were released into the Mzymta river, running into the Black Sea near Sochi. In 2020, 9772 Russian sturgeon fry weighing at least 2.5 g was released into the Protoka river, being a tributary of the Kuban river.fish66.jpg
