Tomograph as a gift

In the regional children’s hospital named after N.N. Silisheva there was held a solemn ceremony of handover of the new high-technology computer tomograph. The up-to-date device for performing the advanced diagnostics, with the cost of 40 mln. rubles was purchased within the scope of charity by the strategic partner of Astrakhan oblast, Caspian Pipeline Consortium. The ceremony was attended by the governor, Alexander Zhilkin, minister of healthcare, Pavel Dzhuvalyakov, and General director of JSC “Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R”, Nikolai Gorban.

Multispiral, 64-slice computer tomograph was commissioned yet in December of 2016, and during this time the new device helped the children’s hospital to save many children's lives. According to senior physician, Artashes Simonyan, this tomograph is the first one in the oblast in terms of radiation exposure and conduction velocity. «This opens wide opportunities in pediatrics, especially in examination of infants and children with pathology, every minute is critical», – he noted.

Due to the new multifunctional tomograph the quality of medical treatment for children of the region will be improved greatly. The device allows to perform diagnostics of the child’s organism within minutes and eliminate the unnecessary moving of children in case of emergency. Also, one of the benefit of tomograph is the possibility of examining the child while he is on artificial pulmonary ventillation of lungs.

The computer tomograph has unique functions, for example, the function of densitometry, allowing to determine the degree of mineralization of bones what is very important at such diseases as osteomyelitis, neoplastic processes and other changes of bone structure. Specially for infants the device was equipped with swimming little fishes which can be observed by an infant during the examination.

On the same day the General Director of CPC, Nikolai Gorban and the Governor of Astrakhan oblast, Alexander Zhilkin, signed the Agreement for the long-term cooperation between CPC Consortium and the region. The document was designed for further development of cooperation both in industrial sector and within the scope of social partnership.
