CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

Nikolay Gorban, CPC General Director, inspected the Tengiz – Novorossiysk Pipeline facilities in Kazakhstan

On July 2-5, 2016, Nikolay Gorban, CPC General Director, inspected the Tengiz – Novorossiysk Pipeline facilities in Kazakhstan. CEO of the Consortium visited Tengiz, Atyrau, A-PS-3A and A-PS-4 pump stations and met with the CPC Easter Region managers and specialists, as well as with those of the contractors.
Upgrade of Tengiz and Atyrau pump stations was completed in 2015 within Phase 1 of the Expansion Project. Currently, decommissioned equipment is dismantled at Tengiz PS.
Construction of the booster A-PS-3A station is a component of Phase 3 of the CPC Expansion Project. General Director was informed that the work had been 85% complete.  The contractors are currently in process of hydrotesting of the process and pipelines and terminating the cables. The comprehensive testing of A-PS-3A is scheduled for December 2016 so that the pump station can be put in operation before March 2017.
A-PS-4A being constructed under Phase 2 of the Expansion Project is 85%.  The individual testing and SU&C of the site equipment are nearing completion.  The site development effort is also underway.  The pump station is scheduled for commissioning in November 2016 following the comprehensive testing.
As a part of the Kazakhstan visit Nikolay Gorban, CPC General Director, had a meeting with Nurlan Nogaev, Akim of Atyrau Oblast to discuss further steps to foster cooperation between Consortium and Oblast.

CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy industry with participation of foreign capital on the CIS territory. The length of the pipeline connecting the oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with single point moorings which allow for safe tanker lifting at a considerable distance from the shore, also when the weather conditions are unfavorable.
The Expansion Project includes rehabilitation of 5 existing and construction of 10 additional pump stations (2 in the Republic of Kazakhstan and 8 in the Russian Federation), six new storage tanks (100,000 cu.m each) in addition to the existing four near Novorossiysk and a third SPM at the CPC Marine Terminal, and also the replacement of an 88 km pipeline section in Kazakhstan with a larger diameter pipe. The total amount of the Project investments will be US$ 5.4 billion.
