Caspian Pipeline Consortium takes part in a tv-linkup in the Atyrau Region

Today, on December 7, 2016, a tv-linkup took place in Atyrau with the participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The event is dedicated to the start of commercial oil  production in the Kashagan field. The head of state met in the Palace of Celebrations with managers of oil and gas companies taking part part in the action. Caspian Pipeline Consortium  was presented by General Director Nikolay Gorban and his deputy Kayrgeldy Kabyldin.
Kanat Bozumbaev, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, reported on the development progress in the oil and gas industry and the current condition of the development of the Kashagan field, following which facilities involved in production and movement of hydrocarbons from Kashagan joined the tv-linkup.
An impressive view was presented of the so-called "Island D" – a large-scale hi-tech structure on the Caspian Sea shelf where oil is gathered and an initial gas separation process is performed. A presenter from the Bolashak oil processing facility reminded tv-linkup participants that the first batch of Kashagan oil had been sent for export on October 14 and today it is transported in commercial quantities through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and KazTransOil pipelines.
To receive oil from Kashagan at the Atyrau pump station owned by CPC, a Custody Transfer Meter No 9 was connected. Sarsembay Murinov, a CPC-K Regional Manager, who was at site at the time, reported to the participants of the event that as of time of the tv-linkup the CPC oil pipeline had already transported over 500,000 tons of Kashagan oil. He then addressed Nursultan Nazarbayev: "Mr. President, the Consortium created under your leadership and with your personal involvement is recognized as one of the best oil pipeline projects in the world today. At this moment, offshore the Black Sea coast, at the CPC Marine Terminal,  a tanker operated by Kazmortransflot with a deadweight of 115 thousand tons is being loaded with Kazakhstan-origin oil.”
The CPC Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk was connected to the tv-linkup and  the Main Control Center of the CPC Pipeline System recently opened after an upgrade was shown on the monitors. The tv-linkup participants could also observe with their own eyes a tanker with  Kazmortransflot written on its side being loaded with Kazakhstani crude to be transported to the world market.
A short video showed the transportation route of the oil from the Bolashak plant in the Caspian to the CPC mainline oil pipeline Tengiz – Novorossiysk and on to the Marine Terminal on the Black Sea. A voice-over commentary noted that CPC CPC  is the largest international oil transportation project with participation of Kazakhstan and Russia, and leading world oil producer companies created for the construction and operation of the mainline oil pipeline more than 1,500 km long.
It is remarkable that the tv-linkup dedicated to the start of commercial oil production in Kashagan was held on the eve of a date which is widely celebrated in Kazakhstan – the 25 anniversary of the independence of the Republic. From the platform of the tv-linkup the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed all employees of the actively developing oil and gas industry representing a strong foundation of the country’s national economy.
Commenting on the participation of Caspian Pipeline Consortium in the  tv-linkup, the CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban stated:
“My impressions about the event with the participation of the President of Kazakhstan are the best! Everything passed in a celebratory atmosphere in keeping with the importance of the event celebrated these days – the 25th anniversary of the independence of Kazakhstan. The country leaders gives great attention to the oil industry whose development positively affects the economy. It is not fortuitous that all leading oil producer companies, and also we as transporters, were were invited to the tv-linkup. It is nice to note that out of three directions in which  Kazakhstan oil is being transported to world markets today, our Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil pipeline is recognized as the main export route. Therefore, CPC plays an important role in the development of the oil industry of Kazakhstan. The republic is landlocked in middle of the continent, and CPC’s expanding capabilities  allow the country to move further into foreign markets successfully. By creating a surplus of pipeline system capacity, we promote the active development of oil fields in the Northern Caspian.
It should be said that during the tv-linkup our employees, in particular Sarsembay Murinov made a report to the President from the Atyrau pump station site, represented CPC commendably. Our new meter for Kashagan oil looked better than great!” Nikolay Gorban said with satisfaction.
For reference:
CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy industry with participation of foreign capital on the CIS territory. The length of the pipeline connecting the oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with single point moorings which allow for safe tanker lifting at a considerable distance from the shore, also when the weather conditions are unfavorable.
