CPC is Ready for Emergency

On March 29th Caspian Pipeline Consortium conducted unscheduled fire-fighting drill on the territory of Astrakhan PS.
According to the drill scenario, the fire broke out in the warehouse of the emergency stock of pipes during the hot work. The “fire” area was about 25 sq. m.
After the notification of the incident all activities at the facility were suspended, the PS and contractors’ staff were evacuated. Astrakhan PS resources and equipment were deployed, additional firefighting service resources from the district were called to respond to emergency.
As a result of skillful actions of all drill participants the fire was extinguished within a short time. The attending observers noted the personnel readiness and sufficiency of resources and equipment for prompt response to emergencies related to firefighting. In the course of the drill, the staff drilled practical skills in operating hydraulic rescue tool.
The training helped to drill in practice the specialists’ actions during emergency response and rescue operations in firefighting and medical aid provision. Orchestrated actions of the Company’s and Contractors’ employees participating in the drill were demonstrated.

The CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects with foreign capital in the energy sector in the CIS. The length of the pipeline connecting oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal in Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC’s Marine Terminal is equipped with Single Point Moorings that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, including bad weather conditions.
