Personnel and Contractors ER Readiness Checked at Kropotkinskaya PS

On 13 March 2018, CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban made a working visit to Kropotkinskaya PS in the Krasnodar Krai, where he inspected the PS equipment and held a working meeting with the Western Region and contractors managers.
In the course of PS walkabout, the Head of the Consortium performed an unscheduled personnel and contractors ER readiness check.
The drill involved interaction of the PS ER resources in the conditions of a test alert, which, as injected by the General Director of the Consortium, was triggered by “a fire” at RVS-20000 oil tank. Fire trucks were placed at fire hydrants and RVS was extinguished by foam.
Besides, another test alert was arranged to check the contractor Starstroi ER resources upon oil pipeline “loss of integrity” at PS outlet.
Kropotkinskaya PS is the biggest oil pump station of Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Quantities of crude oil moved via the CPC pipeline system within its zone of responsibility reach maximum values. Therefore, PS has six mainline and four booster pumps, which are actuated by eight gas turbines. Six of the latter are a part of turbine pumps and two – turbine generators. Total capacity of the PS Tank Farm is 140 thousand cu m. The PS pumps crude oil from the Kazakhstan oilfields and accepts it from the Russian producers.

CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy industry with participation of foreign capital on the CIS territory. The length of the pipeline connecting the oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with single point moorings which allow for safe tanker lifting at a considerable distance from the shore, also when the weather conditions are unfavorable.
