On August 6-7, 2018, CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban made a business trip to inspect Central Region pipeline system facilities located in Astrakhan Oblast, Republic of Kalmykia. The CPC Head visited APS-4A, Astrakhan PS, APS-5A, Komsomolsk PS, PS-2, PS-3 and conducted unscheduled inspections of CPC personnel and contractors’ readiness for emergency response. Drills based on different scenarios took place at pump stations and the pipeline.

Based on the findings of site inspections, drills and meetings with specialists, the CPC Head noted the reliable operation of equipment and high proficiency of CPC personnel.

As a reminder: on April 18, 2018, by commissioning PS-2 the Expansion Project was completed and the pipeline system capacity reached 67 MMTA.

Upon completion of the Expansion Project, Central Region has become the largest within the CPC pipeline system. Out of six pump stations located in CR, five are operated on a rotational basis. In near term the sixth pump station - Astrakhan PS will be also transferred to a rotational mode. For this purpose the PS territory will be expanded, a camp and new utility lines will be constructed.

In 2017, 53 M tons of crude oil were transported via the area of responsibility of Central Region.

For reference.

The CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects with foreign capital in the energy sector in the CIS. The length of Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km; more than two thirds of all export crude oil from Kazakhstan and crude oil from the Russian fields, including those in the Caspian Region, are transported by this route. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also in poor weather conditions.
