The ceremony took place in the republican government building. The prize winners of the creative competitions among schoolchildren held within the framework of the environmental/educational project were congratulated by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kalmykia Igor Zotov and CPC Government Relations Representative Ulyumdzhi Chidzhiev.

Since 2014 Caspian Pipeline Consortium has been implementing a long-term environmental project “Save native land” in all of its host regions. In 2016-2018 under the project, a targeted assistance was provided within Kalmykia to the state biosphere reserve “Black lands” and a large-scale environmental/educational program was carried out for the schoolchildren and residents of the Republic. From 2014 to 2018, the Company allocated the total of almost RUR 14 million for the implementation of the environmental project “Save native land” in Kalmykia.

Under the environmental program, the Consortium contributes to the creation of favorable conditions for the life of rare animals. So, 3 artesian wells were drilled for arrangement of watering points. In order to enhance the reserve security, CPC provided cross-country motor vehicles. Optical, photo, video and computer equipment was bought for monitoring of the saiga population and environmental education of the residents.

The Consortium effective aid to the reserve has already yielded positive results. The saiga population in the “Black lands” reserve has increased from 4 thousand species in 2015 up to 7 thousand in 2018.

In 2018, apart from the creative competition, voluntary Saturday work was organized under the project to plant saplings in the territory of park zones and social facilities, with teachers and students of district schools taking part. The children summer camp had an environmental shift “Save the initimitable”.

In his speech Prime Minister of the Republic of Kalmykia Igor Zotov highly appreciated the CPC contribution to the social sphere development and its activities in environment protection and noted that this demonstrated high level of the Company social responsibility and served as an example for other businesses.

Director of the “Blacklands” reserve Bataar Ubushaev expressed gratitude to the Consortium Management for caring about preservation of biodiversity of fauna in the Republic.

CPC Government Relations Representative Ulyumdzhi Chidzhiev, when handing out the awards to the winners of the competition, noted the importance of a conscientious and responsible attitude of the coming generation to environment, preservation and increase of rare species of fauna and flora and stressed the CPC commitment to support of social projects in ecology.
