3.3 Magnitude Earthquake Had No Impact on CPC Facilities Operation in Novorossiysk

20210419.jpgAn earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 occurred in the Black Sea waters on Sunday, 18 April 2021, at 01.58 p.m. Moscow time. According to the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the epicenter of the underwater shock was in the sea at a depth of 10 km and 6 km away from the shore in Abrau-Dyurso area, 18 km from Myskhako and 21 km from Novorossiysk. According to Krasnodar Krai MChS Department, there were neither victims, nor destructions. Residents could feel the vibrations of the soil in several city districts. It is noted that the earthquake magnitude was less than that recorded on the same territory in December 2020.

The underwater earthquake did not affect the Marine Terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium located in the settlement of Yuzhnaya Ozereevka 40 km away from Novorossiysk center. All facilities including the Terminal Shore Facilities, Tank Farm and three Single point moorings located 5 km from the shore keep functioning routinely. They have all been designed with allowance for seismic activity and have a multiple safety factor. The product is being lifted as planned.
