On 6 October 2021, Nikolay Gorban, General Director of Caspian Pipeline Consortium, met with Alik Aydarbaev, National Company “KazMunayGas” Chairman of the Board, at the 14th Kazenergy Eurasian Forum in Nur-Sultan.
Mr. Gorban and Mr. Aydarbaev discussed CPC’s preliminary performance results in 2021, prospects for CPC Pipeline System modernization, as well as international cooperation in the sphere of energy resources transportation.
“Tengiz–Novorossiysk Pipeline is a strategic facility transporting the major part of our export oil to global markets,” highlighted Mr. Aydarbaev.
“This year CPC celebrates 25 years since the signing of the Shareholders Agreement and foundation of the Consortium the way it stands now. Today, CPC is an example of successful international cooperation in the energy field between major international oil companies. I would like to use this occasion to thank you for our long-term fruitful cooperation,” pointed out Nikolay Gorban. In the light of the anniversary celebrated in 2021, Nikolay Gorban presented Alik Aydarbaev a “CPC 25 Years”medal.
For reference: KazMunaiGas is one of the largest CPC Shareholders and represents in the CPC Project the Republic of Kazakhstan interest of 19%. KazMunaiGas produces 28% of the total oil and gas condensate in Kazakhstan and 16% of natural gas and APG, ensures 65% of oil pipeline transport and 77% of tanker transport from Aktau, as well as 95% of natural gas pipeline transport. It processes 82% of oil produced in Kazakhstan and holds a 17% share of the petroleum products retail market. KazMunaiGas employs around 90 thousand people.

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
