On 16 February 2023, Alikhan Smailov, Premier Minister of the Republic
of Kazakhstan, and CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban held a meeting in
Astana.Meeting participants discussed stable operation and further development
of Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
CPC General Director informed the Prime Minister about operational
performance of the company in 2022, current activities and the plans for the
forthcoming future.
Alikhan Smailov stressed that CPC plays an important role in
Kazakhstan’s oil industry, so that its stable functioning is within the focus
of attention for the Government.
“Last year saw limitations in CPC activities related to damage to
single point moorings at the Marine Terminal. The repair is over, and all the
limitations have been lifted. Meanwhile, it is important to take all the
possible actions to prevent from such situations happening in the future”,
Alikhan Smailov said.
A significant issue, according to the Government head, is increase of
the crude pipeline throughput capacity to ensure that greater oil volumes are
moved from Kazakhstan.
Nikolay Gorban noted that CPC takes all the required actions to ensure
stable functioning of the oil pipeline and to raise reliability of the
equipment used. In addition, successful implementation of the Debottlenecking
Program allowed to increase pipeline throughput to approx. 72.5 Million tons
per annum from Kazakhstan in 2022.
As a follow-up to the meeting, Alikhan Smailov stressed that RK
Government is prepared to study all the current issues.
