Tengiz - Novorossiysk Crude Pipeline Fully Resumed Operation

On 11 April 2024 at 10:39 p.m. Moscow time, 9 hours ahead of schedule, Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system fully resumed standard operation and transportation. Receipt of oil from Shippers is also carried out in a planned mode.  As a reminder: on 9 April 2024, the pipeline system was shutdown for maintenance and tie-in of new equipment at the Tengiz-Novorossiysk trunk crude pipeline facilities.
Specifically, a new pipeline section at KP 266 of the route near the trunk pipeline crossing of the Atyrau-Astrakhan motor road under construction; a number of block valves at the Pump Stations were replaced; pipeline defects were repaired; four insulating joints were replaced on the spools; electric drives were replaced with the new ones and block valves on the line pipe were adjusted for opening and closing; Marine Terminal pressure control stations were upgraded; UPSs were replaced; the new 220/10 kV substation at Tengiz PS was connected; scheduled routine maintenance of various crude pipeline systems and Pump Stations and Marine Terminal was completed.  
Work to support the operation readiness of the subsea pipelines was completed during the said period at CPC Marine Terminal in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka. The work included running a cleaning pig through a five-km segment of the crude pipeline connecting the MT Shore Facilities and Single Point Mooring 2 (SPM-2).

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major investment projects with foreign capital in energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
