On 5-6 August
2024, in Kazakhstan, CPC delegation headed by General Director Nikolay Gorban
visited the facilities of the North Caspian Project operated by North Caspian
Operating Company N.V. (NCOC).
On 5 August,
in the NCOC Atyrau office, the Consortium’s representatives met with NCOC
Managing Director Giancarlo Ruiu. Kuanyshbek
Mukhanov, Production Operations Executive Advisor, Rohan D'Souza, Strategy and
Business Director, and Yerkin Kabdugaliyev, Deputy Strategy and Business
Director, also participated in the meeting.
The parties
discussed the matters related to oil delivery by Shippers from Kashagan field
in the conditions of the forthcoming repair at the field and in the course of
its implementation, and also the implementation of current and prospective oil
deliveries in accordance with the nominations.
Current
issues of the international cooperation in transportation of energy resources
from Kazakhstan via CPC crude pipeline for export markets and significance of
Tengiz - Novorossiysk crude pipeline in the world oil delivery system were also
discussed. Occupational health, safety and environmental protection and sharing
experience and best practices in this area also became a separate topic.
On 6 August,
CPC representatives visited the Production Operations Directorate at Kashagan
field. In particular, they inspected and got acquainted with the operation of
the Central Department, Oil Export Center, visited the North production zone
and other facilities.
As a
reminder: North Caspian Consortium (NCOC) is engaged in development of Kashagan
and is one of the main raw suppliers into CPC pipeline system. The first crude
oil from this field was transported for export via Tengiz - Novorossiysk
pipeline in 2016.
Kashagan
field is located in an area with harsh natural and climatic conditions
requiring the use of unconventional drilling and production technologies. The
size of the largest artificial islands - "A" and "D" -
reaches several square kilometers.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major
investment projects with foreign capital in energy sector in the CIS. The
length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports
over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil
fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped
with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a
significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
