Hero City of Novorossiysk and the Russian Children's Recreational Center Orlyonok located in the vicinity of Tuapse will host an Open Regional Environmental Festival for Children from September 20 until November 01, 2024.
The event is supported by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. The festival founders are the Krasnodar regional office of the Russian Geographical Society, Krasnodar Krai Legislative Assembly and Public Chamber, the City of Novorossiysk administration, the Black Sea ports administration, the Directorate for specially protected natural reserves of the Krasnodar krai, etc.
The Black Sea will be in the spotlight of this year’s environmental festival. The festival participants will have a month and a half to check their knowledge on the geographical specifics of the Sea, will take part in creative and intellectual contests and have a chance to reveal their talents in painting, photography, literature and film making. The program of the festival also includes a large number of off-contest activities: popular science lectures on the Black Sea and the region environmental specifics, video lectures of the Russian Geographical Society, master classes, workshops with scholars and employees of environmental institutions, ecotrail walks, an environmental marathon to clean up coastal areas, etc.
A round table ‘Environmental Issues of the Black Sea: Current Status and Prospective Resolution Areas’ will be among the significant activities of the festival. The round table will be hosted by lead specialists in the field, representatives of the authorities, business and scientific communities.
CPC supports the regional environmental festival within the framework of its traditional project ‘Let’s Save Our Environment’. A number of years to date, the Consortium has cooperated with the Utrish nature reserve by taking part in raising environmental awareness of the younger generation and thus promoting preservation of the unique environment of the reserve's area and the entire northern part of the Black Sea Caucasus shore. This year, CPC also assisted the reserve's scholars with publishing their book called Treasure Kaleidoscope. The book was presented to the public in the Novorossiysk history museum on September 26, 2024. Its contents include 50 brief illustrated essays on the endangered species of plants, animals and mushrooms of the Utrish reserve. The book will be given out as a gift to the participants of the children's environmental festival.
