Oil spill that occurred during tanker loading on 29 August 2025 has been contained, with cleanup efforts continuing

The oil spill has been contained as soon as possible by oil spill response equipment and resources deployed in accordance with an oil spill response (OSR) plan.
1,000 booms, 13 tug boats, 4 small boats, 5 oil skimmers, and 9 floating tanks are deployed for the operation.
Emergency cleanup efforts are in progress with water/oil emulsion being collected for disposal and environmental monitoring and sampling in progress.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major projects in energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPMs) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore.
