On October 10, 2025, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium crude pipeline system was put back into operation after 72-hour scheduled shutdown. During this time, scheduled regular maintenance of various crude pipeline systems, pump stations and Marine terminal was completed.
Works were carried out at process mechanical, power and electrical equipment, in automated control and instrumentation systems and at the telecommunications equipment. CPC ongoing and capital projects activities, which can only be done during the CPC crude pipeline system scheduled shutdown, were implemented.
Mainline ball valve spindle assembly was repaired at KP27 of the crude oil pipeline in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Six repair sleeves installed on the main pipeline defect sections. Logic for activating emergency oil pumps was changed at PS Tengiz and PS Issatai.
Two mainline ball valves, in the Astrakhan Region and in the Republic of Kalmykia, were leak tested. Mainline ball valve replaced in Komsomolskaya PS. Preliminary works to implement the project on replacement of SCADA OAZyS with a dispatch control and supervision system (DCSS) carried out at the same station, at A-PS-4A and Astrakhan PS. Crude oil tanks at Komsomolskaya PS were equipped with additional level indicators and the PS process equipment control algorithms updated.
Electrical insulating joints replaced at two pig launchers/receivers in Stavropol and Krasnodar Krais. Preliminary works to implement the project on replacement of SCADA OAZyS with a dispatch control and supervision system (DCSS) carried out at Kropotkin PS. Process equipment control algorithms updated in accordance with the design solutions at PS Kropotkin, PS-7 and PS-8. Upgrade of the Kropotkin PS booster pump piping with replacement of the block valves completed.
Three ball valves replaced at the shore facilities at CPC Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk. Preliminary works to implement the project on replacement of SCADA OAZyS with a dispatch control and supervision system (DCSS) carried out at the tank farm and shore facilities.
It should be noted that 72-hour scheduled shutdowns take place not more than twice a year. CPC plans them well in advance and agrees on timeframe with all shippers. This information is also taken into account by the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy in developing the annual schedule for oil transportation through Tengiz - Novorossiysk crude pipeline. Thus, the planned work of all participants in the process of oil production and transportation through CPC crude pipeline is ensured.
Crude lifting from the Marine Terminal stopped for the period of scheduled activities has currently been resumed in the standard mode.
For information:
CPC Pipeline System is one of the major projects in energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore.
