On 17 December 2025, the CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban made an inspection visit to PS-2. This pump station located in the Republic of Kalmykia was put into operation under the Expansion Project in 2018.
PS-2 is situated in a remote steppe area and operated by rotation personnel. In 2022, within the framework of the Debottlenecking Program (DBNP), PS-2 along with other CPC industrial facilities was upgraded without pumping shutdown. The mainline pumps were equipped with domestic-made variable frequency drives (VFD), and for the 8.3MW electric motors such VFD were manufactured and operated for the first time in Russia. Pilot operation of the mainline pumps with VFD was accomplished successfully at PS-2 in 2022.
Within the DBNP framework, an additional emergency release tank for the surge relief system (SRS) was installed at PS-2. According to the DBNP schedule, the PS-2 upgrade was completed in 2022.
In the course of the visit to PS-2, the condition of the systems and equipment was evaluated, the preparation of the PS facilities for the wintertime operation was checked, the key mainline sites were inspected. The PS-2 operation personnel and the contractors servicing the station were also checked via sudden scenarios for readiness of their manpower and resources for abnormal situations at the mainline and PS facilities.
The CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban held a meeting with the PS-2 staff to discuss leadership practices as an efficient tool of employee motivation for an informed commitment to the Safe Work Culture values. Besides, in the course of the meeting the tasks were set and explained regarding optimization of costs, operation and business activities, as well as relevant strategic initiatives to be implemented.
