July 30, 2026, 1:48 AM, Moscow time: a terrorist attack hit the motor tanker NISSOS SIFNOS under the Marshall Islands flag, Shipper - Tengizchevroil LLP, while under crude oil loading at CPC single point mooring SPM-3.
UAV attacked near the crude oil-receiving manifolds, causing a fire on the cargo deck. The tanker crew extinguished the fire with a help of three CPC support vessels.
There are no casualties or fatalities among CPC or contractor personnel. No oil spill occurred. The tanker did not submit for medical aid or evacuation for crew members. The tanker remained afloat, damage assessment in progress. Crude oil loading suspended, main pipeline facilities operating normally.
Additionally, in territorial waters, 6 nautical miles from the CPC Marine Terminal, another motor tanker - MARATHI - under the Isle of Man flag, was attacked on its way to CPC MT to receive crude oil.
This defied calls of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other CPC Shareholders abroad, including those made via the U.S. Department of State regarding unacceptability of using force against the international energy infrastructure, thus risking the global energy security, breaching the continuous international energy resource trading mechanisms and inflicting substantial damage to economy interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan, CPC’s western Shareholders, and CPC’s Shippers including Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Eni, Total, Shell and others.
Such terrorist attacks also threaten lives of international crews of sea-going tankers, creating substantial environmental risks in the Black Sea, as a tanker hit near the cargo loading terminals could ignite the entire tanker and result in a massive oil spill.
