Meeting of the ‘Safety Culture’ Permanent Expert Group of the International Association of Oil Transporters (IAOT) took place as part of the Russian Labour Safety Week in Sochi on October 8, 2026.
The ‘Safety Culture’ Permanent Expert Group was created in the IAOT in 2026 following the initiative of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. The Group aims to, among other goals, to harmonize methodological approaches to developing the Safety Culture in oil transportation companies and to ensure fruitful experience exchange. During the meeting, the IAOT members listened to reports delivered by representatives of companies from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Hungary, and Serbia.
The meeting participants agreed on the information channels and types of materials that will be exchanged: lessons learned, instruments and practices, terminology, approaches and descriptions of corporate models. Following discussions, the IAOT members approved the plan of actions to be performed by the end of 2026 and drafted a roadmap of activities up to 2029. N. Gorban, CPC General Director, was elected the chairman of the expert group until the end of 2027.
The IAOT was established in 2013 as an international non-profit, non-governmental organization. The IAOT’s key tasks include comprehensive assistance in supporting continuous deliveries of oil and petroleum products to the world energy markets and in developing interrelationship among the Association participants at a national, regional and international level. CPC upgraded its IAOT status from an observer to a full member in April 2024.
