Unique historical exhibition opened in Krasnodar with CPC support

On September 8, 2021, in the Krasnodar State Historical and Archaeological Museum named after E.D. Felitsyn the exhibition "The Brilliant Age of Catherine the Great. Court Jewelry Art of the Second Half of the Eighteenth Century” of the Moscow Kremlin State Historical and Cultural Museum was opened.
The event was attended by Alexey Pogrebenko, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Krasnodar Krai, Nikolai Gorban, General Director of JSC "Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R", Elena Milovzorova, Director of the of Publishing and Special Programs Department of the Moscow Kremlin Museum. The cultural and educational project, which will continue for more than three months, is supported by the Krasnodar Krai Ministry of Culture and Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R.
It is not by chance that Krasnodar was chosen as the venue for this touring exhibition: from its foundation until 1920, the city was named after Catherine the Great, and there is still much here that is associated with her name. The first project of the Moscow Kremlin Museums in Krasnodar Krai presents unique items created by leading court jewelers of Russia, Europe and the East in the 18th century. Among the exhibits are diplomatic gifts as well as ceremonial weapons. A number of items of the exhibition are linked to His Serene Highness Prince Grigory Alexandrovich Potemkin-Tavrichesky, who played a significant role in the triumphant foreign policy of Catherine the Great. Particular attention should be paid to the works made by the monarchs themselves - Empress Catherine II, as well as Grand Duchess and later Empress Maria Feodorovna, wife of Emperor Paul I, who had mastered the lathe craft.
The exhibition project is intended for a wide range of visitors, from schoolchildren to connoisseurs of jewelry, and is waiting for everyone who is interested in the history of their Fatherland. Thanks to CPC sponsorship, more than 6,000 schoolchildren from schools located in the areas of the CPC pipeline route will be able to visit the exhibition free of charge. Excursions, as well as art contests have been organized for them and their winners will receive prizes.
Cooperation between CPC and scientists of the museum named after Felitsyn lasts for almost a quarter of a century. The museum's field research laboratory has participated in all archaeological expeditions along the CPC pipeline route since 1997. Thanks to the extensive surveys and research accompanying the pipeline construction, Russian scientists have obtained a complete picture of all stages of human settlement in Kuban region, from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. This was greatly facilitated by the construction of the pipeline, which runs through the whole territory of Krasnodar Krai from the village of Temizhbekskaya to Novorossiysk, crosses a variety of landscapes and historical zones:  steppe mounds, floodplain of the Kuban River, the Caucasus Mountains and foothills, dolmen area, and comes down to the sea. In the area of the pipeline initial construction, and then during the CPC Expansion Project, many archaeological objects of different historical eras were investigated - dozens of mounds of the Bronze Age, settlements and burial grounds of the early Iron Age, medieval monuments and even prehistoric dolmens.

FYI:
CPC Pipeline System is one of the major investment projects in energy sector with participation of foreign capital in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz–Novorossiysk Pipeline is 1,511 km; it transports over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export crude, as well as crude from Russian oil fields, including the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
