CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

Business Meeting between the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan and CPC General Director

On February 10, 2022, Bolat Akchulakov, RoK Minister of Energy, who arrived in Moscow as a member of the delegation led by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, had a business meeting with CPC General Director Nikolai Gorban.

The measures taken by the CPC management to create conditions for safe operation of the CPC crude oil pipeline system in the current conditions were discussed. In addition, the CPC Director General informed the Minister about the work done and to be done to implement the Debottlenecking Program (DBNP) for the purpose of accepting additional volumes of crude oil from shippers in the medium term.

Oher topics for discussion also included the CPC performance in 2021 and its business plans for the current year, as well as current issues of international cooperation in the field of energy transportation.

The year of 2022 will become an important milestone for the DBNP implementation: by the end of the year it is planned to complete main projects designed to ensure that the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline will pump up to 83 million tons of crude oil per year. The work is being successfully done at all construction sites from Tengiz PS to Marine Terminal.

In 2021, the CPC pipeline system transported from Kazakhstan 53,071,814 tons of crude oil. The largest volumes was supplied from Tengiz, Karachaganak and Kashagan fields - 26,579,365 tons, 10,285,250 tons and 15,743,555 tons, respectively.

In total, from 2001 through January 2022, 672,550,813 tons of crude oil were delivered to the world markets via the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system.

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
