Saiga is one
of the ancient animals that have inhabited the Eurasian steppes since the
Pleistocene epoch. According to the expert opinion, no scientific and
educational literature on saigas has been published in Kazakhstan since 1982,
though this topic has been and continues to be of particular importance given
the threat of extinction of these red-listed animals. The AQBÓKEN Saiga
Tatarica photo album has been issued to fill this gap. The publication of 1,000
copies in Kazakh, Russian and English in high quality printing has been
published with the support of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
album includes over 100 pictures of famous photographers from all over the
world taken in different seasons of the year. The illustrations are accompanied
by scientific information about the origin of saigas, the geography of their
distribution, and their modern habitat.
Scientists T. Dietrich (NABU) and Yu. Grachev (MNVO RK) were reviewers
of the publication.
“As part of
its charity activity, CPC supports environmental programs in Kazakhstan and
Russia, said Kairgeldy Kabyldin, CPC-K Deputy General Director, RoK Government
Relations, at the photo album presentation. - Since 2016, with the assistance
of our Company, work has been carried out in Kazakhstan to save and increase
the saiga population, in particular, the "Sacred Saiga" environmental
project was implemented. This photo album is a natural continuation of the
Consortium's work to protect saigas, promote their way of life, and raise
environmental awareness among the younger generation”.
album is not for sale. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium donates this book to the
libraries of educational institutions and environmental organizations in Atyrau
Oblast, the region of its presence.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major
investment projects with foreign capital in energy sector in the CIS. The
length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports
over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export crude, as well as crude from Russian
oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is
equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers
safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
