The award
ceremony for the best shift of the CPC Marine Terminal took place at the Kuban Community
Center on December 11, 2024. The initiative has been implemented by the
regional operations department for a year and a half, approved by CPC
management, and recognized as a pilot project within the Company.
The ‘Best Shift’ contest was launched back in
2023 as a motivational tool for development of Safe Work Culture for the CPC
Marine Terminal personnel.
The annual
contest that starts in January brings together operators of pumps and process
installations, electricians, instrumentation technicians and other specialists
to contend in the four nominations: ‘a role model: one for all’, ‘a reference
figure: hands-on approach’, ‘inspirer: a motivator’, ‘driver: a generator of
ideas’.
Evaluation
criteria that have been developed are understandable, transparent and
motivational for all contestants. The criteria include the number of initiated
technical activities, the number of closed action items to rectify HSE
non-compliances, the number of implemented leadership practices and filled out
observation cards. The contestants get scores and bonuses based on the
evaluation results.
The winner of
the 2024 contest is the shift of Vladimir Sherishorin. The team was awarded the
contest banner and winner bronze pins.
‘This is a
team victory. It demonstrates the level of Safe Work Culture development at the
CPC Marine Terminal’, stated Sergey Aksenov, the Best Shift program
coordinator, Shore Facilities and Tank Farm Manager in its address to the
winners.
Ibragim
Osmanov, PS Operator is the winner of the ‘role model: one for all’
nomination. Technicians Kirill
Kharlamov and Vyacheslav Terentiev jointly with PS Operator Aleksey Machulin
won in the nomination ‘reference figure: hands-on approach’. PS Operators
Nikolai Svitka and Evgeni Chursilov jointly with process installations operator
Sergey Radzikhovsky were the best in the ‘inspirer/ motivator’ nomination. Anton Lyashko, process installations operator
and Aleksander Samartsev, instrumentation technician were winners of the
‘driver/ generator of ideas’ nomination.
Winners of the individual nominations who succeeded in validating their
leadership once again this year were awarded silver pins.
‘The Contest
will go on’, summed up Aleksey Pelipenko, Head of Regional Division, MT
Operations, speaking of the Best Shift 2024 program outcomes. ‘Safety Culture level in the Company is
sufficiently high, however, there is room for improvement.’
Winners of
the Best Shift program were greeted by Vassily Chumak, Head of Administration
of Novorossiysk intra-urban district.
Discussion of the Best Shift program is on the agenda of the CPC Safe
Work Culture Steering Committee.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major projects
in energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline
is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export
