CPC Executives Inspect Oil Pipeline Facilities in Astrakhan Oblast, Republic of Kalmykia and Stavropol Krai

202504281А.jpgOn 26-27 April 2025, CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban and Consortium specialists in operations and construction projects inspected А-PS-5А in the Astrakhan Oblast; Komsomolskaya PS, PS-2, PS-3 in the Republic of Kalmykia and PS-4 in the Stavropol Krai. In the course of the working visit, unscheduled checks were conducted of personnel and contractors readiness for emergency response.
At the pump stations, the CPC executives inspected the main and ancillary equipment sites, as well as checked the progress of preparing the facilities for the implementation of a large-scale project of switching-over to external power supply and the personnel accommodation conditions in the shift camps.
In particular, at А-PS-5А, the CPC executives discussed the technical operation aspects of four VFD shelters for MPU electric motors, which had been put into operation recently under the Debottlenecking Program.
At Komsomolskaya PS, the preparations for the external power supply project were also discussed, including construction of new MPU buildings, new ISG and transformer substation buildings, additional cable lines, as well as four VFD shelters.  The external power supply facilities for Komsomolskaya PS will be erected by PAO Rosseti and funded by CPC-R.
The project will include the upgrade of the fire-extinguishing pump stations: the latter will be equipped with large-capacity pumps, a foam generator unit will be built and water/foam-extinguishing networks will be deployed.
The Company Management also examined a new surge relief system tank site constructed under the Debottlenecking Program in 2022. In 2024, within the framework of a pilot project in the CPC Central Region, the Komsomolskaya PS canteen was furnished with additional equipment.
Komsomolskaya PS transports crude oil via the main Tengiz-Novorossiysk route and receives crude oil into the CPC pipeline system from the Russian offshore oil fields in the Caspian Sea.
PS-2 is an intermediate station built under the Expansion Project and put into operation in April 2018. PS-3 was commissioned in 2015. PS-4 was constructed in 2015.
In the course of the Debottlenecking Program (DBNP), at these stations there were installed variable frequency drives (VFD) for electric motors of mainline pump units, as well as additional tanks of the surge relief system in order to enhance reliability of PS operation.
At PS-3, VFD for MPU were tested recently, the equipment is practically ready to be put into operation.
At PS-2, the operation personnel reported stable functioning of all four VFD commissioned in 2022.
The CPC executives noted reliable operation of equipment and high professional level of PS specialists.
Besides, within the framework of developing the Safe Work Culture (SWC), individual conversations were conducted with the PS SWC leaders.
The necessity was highlighted to further improve the contractor HSE management system. Special attention was paid to enhancement of leadership skills at the Safe Work Culture Committee meetings, including such aspects as involvement of contractors, analysis of observation cards, discussion of hazardous situations, incidents and lessons learnt, honest dialogue.
