CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

Scope of Work During Scheduled Shutdown

On July 8, 2026 following a 12 hour scheduled shutdown, Tengiz-Novorossiysk crude oil pipeline operated by Caspian Pipeline Consortium resumed the work. The scheduled regular maintenance of various crude oil pipeline, pump stations and Marine Terminal systems took place within the said time window. Repairs, CPC ongoing and capital projects related activities were carried out.
PS and pipeline scheduled maintenance was completed in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Six pipeline defects were repaired. Elbows were changed out at pig launcher/receiver station nearby Kurmangazy PS. Ball valve was replaced at Tengiz PS. The drainage valves within mainline ball valves station nearby Atyrau PS were changed out.
Four mainline ball valves were leak tested in Astrakhan Oblast and in the Republic of Kalmykia. Three defects were repaired with sleeves. Vent valve was installed on inlet manifold.
Four ball valves were leak tested at pipeline facilities in Stavropol and Krasnodar Krais. Drainage line valves were changed out at PS-8.
During the July scheduled shutdown, the work was completed on the main and auxiliary equipment - emergency diesel generators, block valves within pressure control system at the Tank Farm and the Shore Facilities, multi-purpose tank and pig launcher/receiver station at the Shore Facilities and other equipment at Marine Terminal.
The Consortium plans well in advance 12 hour scheduled shutdowns (the same applies to shutdowns of other duration) subject to the Shippers’ prior approval of the dates. This information in also taken into account by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in developing their schedule for oil transportation through Tengiz - Novorossiysk crude oil pipeline. Thus, the streamline work of all participants in the process of oil production and transportation through CPC crude pipeline is secured.
For information:
CPC Crude Oil Pipeline System is one of the major projects in the CIS energy sector. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that enable safe tanker loading at a significant distance offshore.
