Fire Tactical Exercise at Kropotkin PS

20210624.jpgA test fire tactical exercise was conducted on 24 June 2021 at Kropotkin PS of CPC Pipeline system. Forty five specialists participated in the function held in Kavkazsky District, Krasnodar Krai, deploying 11 units of equipment.

According to the tactical plan of the exercise, at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time as a result of violation of the fire safety rules during the scheduled repairs on RVSPK-50000 tank oil caught fire. The fire was observed on the entire tank surface (2,892 m2). The PS fire unit forces and resources, the staff of the volunteer fire brigade and forces and resources of Kropotkin and Armavir firefighting and emergency and rescue operations base stations of Russia EMERCOM Main department for Krasnodar Krai were promptly dispatched to the site.

The Fire Chief instructed to install two powerful hydro-foam monitors, Dominator-9000, with deployment of working lines from stationary combs. The exercise participants practiced cooling the “burning” tank with the help of four portable fire monitors, the neighboring tank - “not burning” - using two portable fire monitors and successfully performed a foam attack. Within an hour of the start of the exercise, the tank was “extinguished”.

The regulatory authorities’ representatives and observers highly praised the actions of the operational headquarters and firefighters. The test showed the sufficiency of portable and stationary extinguishing equipment available at the site.

CPC conducts at least 10 large-scale drills of oil spill response and fire extinguishing on an annual basis. Being a part of the Company’s industrial safety, labor and environmental protection policy, these activities are aimed at assuring the readiness of CPC and its emergency response Contractors’ resources and equipment to respond to possible emergencies in the Regions crossed by the Tengiz-Novorossiysk trunk crude pipeline and to minimize to the maximum the Consortium’s operation environmental impact.
