Environmental Test Results: Air 1.5-20 Times Cleaner Than Standard

20210820-1.jpgEnvironmental specialists from KubanECOProject laboratory announced the test results of air at CPC Marine Terminal (MT) and in the adjacent coastal areas from Yuzhnaya Ozereevka to Bolshoy Utrish. Samples were taken from 10 locations: boundary of the residential area to the northwest of the MT Shore Facilities (SF), boundary of the sanitary protection zone in the west direction from the SF, entry to Yuzhnaya Ozereevka settlement to the northwest of the SF, Yuzhnaya Ozereevka beach, Glebovka center, Limanchik Lake SPNR (Abrau beach). Romantik and Energetik holiday camps in Durso village, beach and dolphin aquarium in Bolshoy Utrish village.

According to the measurements results on 17 August, a daily average of contents of C1Н4-C5Н12 group of hydrocarbons per cubic meter of air in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka was 17.2 mg. This is 2.8 times lower than the average daily MAC (50 mg/m3) and 11.5 times lower than the maximum single MAC (200 mg/m3). A daily average of contents of C6Н14-C10Н22 group of hydrocarbons per cubic meter of air was 3.3 mg. This is 1.5 times lower than the average daily MAC (5 mg/m3) and 15 times lower than the maximum single MAC (50 mg/m3). A daily average of benzene contents per cubic meter of air was 0.028 mg. This is 2.14 times lower than the average daily MAC (0.06 mg/m3) and 10.7 times lower than the maximum single MAC (0.3 mg/m3).

20210820-2.jpgOn the same day, a daily average of contents of C1Н4-C5Н12 group of hydrocarbons per cubic meter of air in Bolshoy Utrish was 18.2 mg. This is 2.7 times lower than the average daily MAC (50 mg/m3) and 10.9 times lower than the maximum single MAC (200 mg/m3). A daily average of contents of C6Н14-C10Н22 group of hydrocarbons per cubic meter of air was 3.6 mg. This is 1.38 times lower than the average daily MAC (5 mg/m3) and 13.8 times lower than the maximum single MAC (50 mg/m3). A daily average of benzene contents per cubic meter of air was 0.015 mg. This is 4 times lower than the average daily MAC (0.06 mg/m3) and 20 times lower than the maximum single MAC (0.3 mg/m3).

In other sampling locations the values are not fundamentally different. The air in all these coastal locations is measured by three teams of KubanECOProject four times a day with a 6 hour interval during 13 days. The timing and frequency of tests are required by the Regulation for oil spill response.

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
