Results of Environmental Educational Project - Save Our Environment – 2022 - in Astrakhan Oblast Summarized

20220519-1.jpgOn May 19, 2022, the results of the environmental educational project “Save Our Environment” were summed in Astrakhan Oblast. The final function was attended by Mikhail Grishankov, CPC Deputy General Director, RF Government Relations, Oleg Petelin, Minister of Social Development and Labor, Oleg Malkin, Head of Volgo-Caspian Territorial Department of Rosrybolovstvo, and Vitaly Plyukhin, Head of Volgo-Caspian Branch of All-Russia Scientific Institute of fishery and oceanography (KaspNIRKh).




20220519-2.jpgThe project dedicated to preservation and regeneration of the sturgeon population, has been implemented for the seventh year jointly by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and Volgo-Caspian Branch of All-Russia Scientific Institute of fishery and oceanography (KaspNIRKh). It is aimed at increasing the population of the endangered sturgeon species and fostering a caring attitude toward nature among children and teenagers.

This year, young scientists and specialists of Volgo-Caspian Branch of ARSIFO conducted 30 open classes in 10 schools and social rehabilitation centers in Kharabalinsky, Yenotaevsky, Limansky, Narimanovsky and Krasnoyarsk Districts where CPC operation facilities are located.

Representatives of the younger generation took an active part in the creative competition for the best essay. In addition, the jury reviewed 180 themed drawings, 60 handicrafts, 30 videos. The authors of 27 works were awarded valuable prizes.







20220519-3.jpgThe winners of the children's creative competition, representatives of CPC-R, Astrakhan Oblast government, Federal Agency for Fishery, and the CaspNIRKh took part in releasing 200 young beluga, weighing 350 g each, into their natural habitats as part of the closing ceremony of the project. On the same day about 69 thousand Russian sturgeon fry weighing 3 to 5 g were released in the Volga River's near-delta area. The procedure was carried out in the presence of a special commission under the auspices of the Federal Agency for Fishery, which included representatives of federal and regional authorities, fishery science, fishery departments of Rosrybolovstvo and public organizations.

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
