The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

CPC Management’s Inspection Visit to the Company’s Eastern Region

On 29-30 June 2024, CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban and the lead managers and specialists engaged in the Consortium’s operation and construction project implementation visited the pump stations - Tengiz PS, Atyrau PS, Isatai PS and Kurmangazy PS - as part of their working visit to the operation facilities of the Eastern Region of Caspian Pipeline Consortium.

They inspected the PSs equipment, checked the personnel’s and contractors’ readiness to potential emergencies. Further enhancement of the Safety culture level became one of the key topics at the meetings with the Eastern Region specialists. In 2023, the team and contractors worker over 4 mln man-hours without injuries and incidents, the motor vehicles ran more than 7 mln km without MVAs.

Tengiz PS is located at KP0 of CPC truck crude pipeline and represents a set of structures, installations and equipment designed to support receipt and metering of crude from the Shippers. The station was put into operation in 1989, and was reconstructed in 2001 and 2015. Under the Debottlenecking Program (DBNP). Two RVSPK-20000 tanks were built, new mainline pump units were installed, a new booster pump house was installed and the oil quantity and quality measurement system (LACT) was expanded. Construction and installation at the facilities related to expansion of KEGOK 220kW substation and 220kW HVL were also completed at Tengiz PS.

Atyrau PS, built in 1989, was upgraded as part of CPC Expansion Project in 2015: 27 new facilities were put into operation, including two mainline and four booster pumps, surge relief system, three oil meters, two RVSPK-20000 tanks and an indoor switchgear. In 2022, as part of the Debottlenecking Program, the fifth mainline pump was put into operation, thus increasing the station’s throughput capacity from 9,000 to over 12,000 cu. m per hour. At the station, the managers and specialists got familiarized with the results of work to change the external power connection scheme, reconstruction of the household/sanitary sewage system and fire ring water networks.

The intermediate Kurmangazy PS and Isatai PS were constructed in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The external power supply of both stations is provided in accordance with the scheme which is unique for oil transportation companies in Kazakhstan - using two new specially built 220 kW overhead power lines, 224.5 km long each, and two 220/10 kW substations.

For information:

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
