Anthropogenic plastic pollution and discharges from vessels were noted as the most critical factors of pollution of the Black Sea water area and coast near Novorossiysk.
In general, it was concluded that the condition of seawater in the vicinity of Novorossiysk municipality was within normal limits. The environmental policy of industrial enterprises, environmental initiatives and activities of the city, and specialized research structures play their roles in this.
The Round Table organizers focused on environmental education of the younger generation. A number of programs and projects active in the region in this area may efficiently be combined to reinforce their effects, and this was proved in 2024 when the VII Open Krai Children's Ecological Festival and the environmental and educational project “Protect Nature of Our Native Land” were integrated.
- The Krai Children's Ecological Festival has been conducted since 2017, each year, new activities appear in its program, - pointed out in her speech Elena Kambarova, Ph in Geography, Chairman of the Novorossiysk Local Branch of the Russian Geographical Society. - This year, for example, children were taken on an excursion to the Utrish Nature Reserve, for which many thanks to CPC and the administration of the reserve.
Online broadcast and opportunity to ask questions of the speakers became an important aspect of the Round Table. As was noted in the course of summing up the results, the materials of the reports would be published in mass media and the practice of conducting that type of events would be continued with the expansion of the range of issues and their update.
