2 September 2025 saw successful completion of in-line inspection of CPC Pipeline segment. The in-line inspection was performed from 23 July 2025 on the pipeline segment from Kurmangazy PS to Astrakhan PS in Russian Federation and Republic of Kazakhstan. The length of the inspected segment is 188 km.
The work on the important transborder segment of the pipeline followed an approved CPC Plan. The goal of the inspection was to obtain up-to-date information on the actual state of the trunk pipeline so that to improve reliability of Consortium’s facilities operation.
The inspection used modern high-precision in-line inspection tools manufactured by Transneft-Diascan JSC that apply in their operation the principle of ultrasonic wave reflection and distortion of the generated magnetic field in wall defect points, as well as a tool to define geometric properties of the pipe. In addition to representatives of Transneft-Diascan JSC, engaged in the in-line inspection were specialists of CPC Eastern and Central Regions, teams from KazTransOil JSC and STARSTROI LLC.
Experts from Transneft-Diascan JSC are now analyzing dozens of terrabites of obtained data and will consequently submit a technical report on the current state of the pipeline segment and recommendations on maintaining structural integrity of the pipeline and its safe operation.
It should be noted that from its early days of the pipeline system CPC has been paying close attention to monitoring the technical state of the line pipe. An important aspect of this work is in-line inspection, which involves use of various technologies and processes to identify defects, corrosion and damages that can appear in the process of pipelines operation.
Starting from 2015, in-line inspection of Tengiz-Novorossiysk Pipeline has been performed by Transneft-Diascan JSC, a subsidiary of Transneft PSC.
