Results of Let’s Save Our Environment Project Summed up in Astrakhan Region

20260520-1.jpgOn 20 May 2026, a summing-up and award ceremony was held in the Astrakhan Region for the winners of the environmental/educational project “Let’s Save Our Environment”, including release of juvenile fish into the natural habitat. Apart from the Astrakhan Region schoolchildren and pupils of the social/rehabilitation centers, parents, teachers and mentors, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, RF Research Institute of Fishery and Oceanography, Ministries of Social Development and Labor, Education and Science of the Astrakhan Region, Volga-Caspian Territorial Department of the Federal Agency for Fishery.



20260520-2.jpgWithin the educational part of the project, in April 2026, specialists of the Volga-Caspian Branch of the RF Research Institute of Fishery and Oceanography conducted 30 open lessons in the rural areas of the Astrakhan Region on the subject “Sturgeon is a relict fish extant from the time of dinosaurs. Let’s preserve it for future generations”. The knowledge acquired was demonstrated by the schoolchildren in a creative contest. A total of 257 applications and works were submitted in the following nominations: Applied and Decorative Art, Multimedia Project and Drawing.

By tradition, on the last day of the Let’s Save Our Environment Project events, specially grown juvenile fish and fry of rare fish species were released into the natural habitat. From the pier of the BIOS Aquaculture Scientific/Experimental Complex and in the Volga delta area, there were released 200 ea of young beluga and more than 16 thousand fry of Russian sturgeon and beluga.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major projects in energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore.
