CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

CPC Loaded First Tanker at the Marine Terminal 25 Years Ago

DSCF1497.jpg25 years ago, on October 13, 2001 the first tanker began loading at the CPC Marine Terminal in Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka. Minerva Alexandra, a vessel under Greek flag (shipper - Tengizchevroil LLP), was moored to the Single Point Mooring SPM-1 at 11:30. The first oil entered the tanks at approximately 11:00 p.m. The lifting was completed on October 14, when hoses were disconnected from the tanker.
In the first year of its pipeline system operation CPC loaded about 100 tankers. The Company loaded the 1,500th tanker in 2008 and the 3,000th in 2013. In February 2016, the 4,000-th tanker was processed at MT and the milestone of 5,000-th loaded crude oil tanker was reached in 2018. The 9000th tanker was loaded in 2025. As of October 13, 2026, the total number of crude oil tankers handle at the Marine Terminal is 9926 vessels!
CPC Marine Terminal utilizes the advanced technology, which is currently used by no more than 40 oil terminals worldwide. Vessels approach not the onshore berths with loading arm systems, but three Single Point Mooring units (SPM) located more than 5 km away from the shore. This distance is five times more than the sanitary protection zone boundaries established by legislation.
In compliance with the long-term equipment upgrade program, in 2026 CPC replaced one of three single point moorings which had been in operation since 2001.
For information:
CPC Crude Oil Pipeline System is one of the major projects in the CIS energy sector. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that enable safe tanker loading at a significant distance offshore.
