On 14 September 2022, Atyrau, which is also called the
oil capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, hosts a jubilee 10th
Safety Day of Caspian Pipeline Consortium. The event has been held since 2012 involving
representatives of the Shareholders, contractors and partners of the
international consortium, as well as regional authorities. Within the framework
of implementing the Strategic HSE Plan, the entire CPC management takes part in
the Safety Day.“Our efforts aimed at OHS enhancement yield their
results”, - noted CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban in his opening remarks on
the Safety Day at Atyrau. – “As of today, the CPC personnel and engaged
contractors have worked, upon the whole, 7.4 million man-hours without injuries.
The total MVA-free run of the corporate motor vehicles has reached 133.8 million
km. I would like to highlight separately the performance indicators of our RK
division: 3.3 million man-hours without injuries and 30.8 million km run of
motor vehicles without MVA.”
More than 600 persons participate in the Safety Day

The general motto of the 2022 event – “The Time of the
First”, while seven contests developed in line with the seven approved
objectives of the Strategic HSE Plan are named in honor of the earlier held
Safety Days.
The contest “The Impossible is Possible” will demonstrate
the skills of effective work and medical support management in the conditions
of pandemics. “Safety – Key to Victory” is dedicated to the issues of improving
the risk management process, assessment of risk barrier efficiency, functioning
of the work permit system, incident root cause investigation and identification
system. The contest “Safety Olympics” allows to demonstrate HSE competence and
skills. “Together” – this is the name of the contest on the subject of
improving the contractor HSE management system. “The Time of the First” – concerns
improvement of the motivation system and responsibility, automation and integration
of the HSE business processes. Enhancement of the operations environmental
safety level is the focus of the contest “The Step Forward”. In the “Games of the
Elements”, the contestants check their emergency response.
The Safety Day territory is decorated in a traditional
Oriental style: ethnic yurtas (tents) with national attributes and decorations,
the participants are greeted by batyrs – Kazakh warrior heroes in full combat
gear. One of the yurtas is called “Good Office”. Here, any participant may submit
wishes and proposals to the international consortium, including those related
to HSE. In recognition of the initiative, each guest will get a memorable gift.
The event territory features photo and game zones, where
you can try your hand in archery and national Kazakh game – asyki, as well as
enjoy a concert program starring local performers and performance groups.
As always, at the end of the Safety Day there will be
summing-up of competition results (to be published by the CPC Press Service
later) and presenting of prizes to winners. Generally, the event will be a gain
for all participants of the CPC international project, as the safety level at
the industrial facilities will be enhanced further.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major investment projects with foreign
capital in energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk
pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan
export crude, as well as crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the
Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings
(SPM) that allow to load tankers safely at a significant distance offshore,
also amid poor weather conditions.
