CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

Head of Novorossiysk visits CPC Marine Terminal site

20220619-2-1.jpg 20220619-2-2.jpg 20220619-2-3.jpg 20220619-2-4.jpg Andrey Kravchenko, Head of Novorossiysk Municipality, and Nikolay Gorban, General Director, Caspian Pipeline Consortium, held a working meeting at company's Marine Terminal (MT) site, which included a visit to CPC MT Tank Farm.

The meeting covered implementation of a new five-year agreement between CPC and the Municipality signed on February 21, 2022, as well as operability and environmental safety of CPC MT equipment and facilities.

CPC General Director informed Head of the Hero City about the progress of additional survey and disposal of potentially hazardous subsea objects in the water area of SPM-1 and SPM-2 performed by the EMERCOM of Russia in order to eliminate residual risk of mines.

The said activities are required in order to ensure safety in the course of the work where the sea bed is touched while replacing subsea manifolds, installing caisson anchors, laying chains and installing other SPM-1 and SPM-2 equipment. As a reminder, CPC is planning to replace the said SPMs in the medium term.

Head of the City visited CPC Operations Control Center, where he received clarifications on operation of SCADA system.

In addition, the leaders inspected of Marine Terminal Tank Farm. Ten 100,000 cubic meter oil storage tanks were installed with a considerable process and seismic factor in mind.

The issues of industrial and environmental safety of Consortium’s facilities were of special interest for Andrey Kravchenko in the course of his visit to the Marine Terminal. Company’s personnel provided exhaustive clarifications on the range of process solutions adopted in CPC, on leading practices in occupational safety, fire safety and environmental protection, as well as Operational Environmental Monitoring Procedure the Company implemented, which involves all types of control for environmental components quality, possible pollution sources, man-caused and industrial environmental impact on the ecosystem.

The CPC Pipeline System is one of CIS largest energy investment projects that involves foreign capital. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route moves over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil along with crude from Russian fields including those in the Caspian region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM), allowing tankers to be loaded safely at significant distance offshore, including in poor weather conditions
