On 18
July 2022, a group of CPC operation and construction projects execution specialists
headed by CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban made a working trip to the
mountainous segment of the oil pipeline and CPC Marine Terminal near
Novorossiysk. The General Director inspected the MT Tank Farm and Shore
Facilities, held a meeting with the MT management on various issues of MT
operation and Debottlenecking Program (DBN) of the CPC oil pipeline system.
An oil
spill response drill was conducted at KP1484 of the trunk oil pipeline located
in the mountains. The drill injection was forwarded at 5 a.m. concurrently to
two emergency rescue stations (ERS) – Novorossiysk ERS and Krizhanovsky ERS. All
in all, 35 specialists and 26 vehicles took part in the drill. The drill
participants used the required specialized equipment and fulfilled the set
tasks within the prescribed time.
At the
Tank Farm, an unscheduled fire drill was conducted involving 30 specialists and
6 vehicles. According to the drill scenario, a signal of “fire” at oil tank VFRT
No. 6, 100 thou m3 capacity was received on the fire alarm panel. Fire-fighting
crews arrived at the site promptly, deployed a mobile high-capacity system Fischcon,
stationary monitors and mounted a foam attack. The performance of the drill participants
was found satisfactory in terms of concerted actions to extinguish a
conventional fire and high practical skills of employing the specialized
equipment.

Within
the framework of DBN implementation, the CPC executives checked readiness of the
new crude oil quantity and quality measurement system (LACT meter). They were
shown the modules of measuring lines Nos. 1 and 2. The modules have been
assembled and are ready for hydraulic testing. As for measuring line No. 3, the
arrangement of a cast-in-situ site is nearing completion and assembly of the
equipment will start shortly.
At
the construction site of the control building, the builders reported the
completion of reinforced-concrete work and commencement of finishing. Besides,
the CPC management were demonstrated the existing pressure control stations
Nos. 1 and 2, which have been upgraded under DBN.

CPC Pipeline System is one of the major
investment projects with foreign capital in energy sector in the CIS. The
length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports
over two thirds of all Kazakhstan export crude, as well as crude from Russian
oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is
equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow to load tankers
safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
