CPC guarantees efficient and environmentally safe movement of crude oil

The Project is designed to increase the trunk pipeline capacity

Scope of Work During Scheduled Shutdown

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium pipeline system was put back into operation on April 10, 2026 following a 72-hour scheduled shutdown. In the said period, scheduled regular maintenance of various crude pipeline systems, Pump Stations and Marine Terminal was completed.
The scope of work included mechanical, process, power and electrical equipment, automated control and instrumentation systems, telecommunications and SCADA equipment. CPC ongoing and capital projects activities, which can only be carried out during the CPC crude pipeline system scheduled shutdown, were implemented.
Preparatory work to deliver a project on replacement of SCADA with a dispatch control and supervision system (DCSS) was implemented in the CPC Eastern Region in the Republic of Kazakhstan, at Tengiz PS, Atyrau PS, Isatai PS and Kurmangazy PS. A wedge valve was replaced on the pig launcher/receiver in the vicinity of Atyrau PS. Four repair sleeves were installed on the Eastern Region line pipe.
In the CPC Central Region located in the Astrakhan Oblast and Republic of Kalmykia, preparatory work on utilities was carried out under Komsomolsk PS new mainline pump station construction project. At A-PS-5A, PS-2 and PS-3, preparatory work was performed for the SCADA - DCSS replacement project.
The CPC Western Region team working in the Stavropol Krai and Krasnodar Krai, completed outfitting of oil tanks with additional level switches at Kropotkin PS. A number of ball valves were replaced, along with a tee at the inlet to a pig launcher/receiver in the vicinity of PS-4.
At PS-4, PS-5 and PS-8, preparatory work was completed for delivery of the SCADA replacement with DCSS project.
Work to upgrade control systems controller equipment was performed at the CPC Marine Terminal. The Tank Farm closed drainage system and fire suppression system were upgraded.
It should be noted that 72-hour scheduled shutdowns take place not more than twice a year. CPC plans them well in advance and agrees on timeframe with all shippers. This information is also taken into account by the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy in developing the annual schedule for oil transportation through Tengiz - Novorossiysk crude pipeline. Thus, planned work of all participants in the process of oil production and transportation through the CPC crude pipeline is ensured.
For information:
CPC Crude Oil Pipeline System is one of the major projects in CIS energy sector. The length of the Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports over two-thirds of all Kazakhstan export oil, and crude from Russian oil fields, including those in the Caspian Region. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings (SPM) that allow safe loading of tankers at a significant distance offshore.
